Allyson Williams arrived from Trinidad in 1969 as one of the Windrush generation, trained as a midwife and went on to transform maternity care across London, earning an MBE in 2002.
Her other life began with Carnival: married to Vernon “Fellows” Williams, a founder of Notting Hill Carnival, she co-founded the Genesis mas band in 1980 and still plays mas every August.
Midwife, mas-maker and Windrush veteran, she has shaped this city from the inside. Join us in the listening lounge of Mason and Fifth for an evening of memory, music and the stories behind sixty years of Carnival.
