LOCAL RESIDENTS
Share your stories of Queensway, Westbourne Grove and Porchester Road.
We are inviting local residents, elders, young people, and shop owners from Queensway, Westbourne Grove, Porchester Road and surrounding streets to take part in a new collaborative art project with artist Bunmi Agusto, commissioned by Westminster and the Contemporary Art Society *Consultancy, and supported by The Showroom.
This project explores the layered histories of the neighbourhood and everyday life today. We are especially interested in the personal stories, memories, changes, and small details that shape how this area is lived and remembered.
What will you do?
You will take part in a series of creative storytelling and collective making workshops:
· 3 sessions of 3 hours each at The Showroom ( 63 Penfold St, NW8 8PQ ) on 1st, 8th, 15th July 2026, 4 – 7 pm
· Developed by artist Bunmi Agusto
· With 12 other participants
Your participation and contribution to the project will be compensated with £150 for attending the three workshop sessions and the closing event.
In the sessions, we will:
· Share stories and memories of the area
· Take part in creative activities
· Create visual “facades” inspired by local buildings, people, and anecdotes
· Perform spoken stories
· Contribute to a collective artwork that maps the neighbourhood through time
We will also host a small additional gathering for family and friends to share stories in an informal setting in August or September 2026, date to be confirmed.
What will the outcome be?
The workshops will feed into a large-scale public artwork across the area, including banners installed along local streets, to be launched in October 2026.
The work will also be documented through film and storytelling, capturing the voices and histories shared.
If you sign up for the project, you agree to be filmed and recorded as part of its documentation and outcomes.
