Faiz Sara is a Syrian writer, journalist, and politician, born in 1950. He has worked on a number of Arab media platforms and research centres, and has written around twenty books on Syrian and Arab affairs. He contributed to the establishment of many opposition groups, assumed leadership responsibilities in them, and was arrested several times because of his activism. Creative handicrafts are a hobby that he has remained dedicated to for four decades, in which he produced hundreds of works. Some of these will be displayed here for the first time in London. FAIZ SARA Life Between Damascus and London will showcase a collection of over 15 years of art works created by Faiz Sara. Starting out with a few pieces made while he was imprisoned in Syria, to challenge the persecution and oppression he faced, the collection grew beyond his time in prison. The diverse range of works are all made of recycled consumable materials, including wood, date and olive stones, coffee and tea residues, metal cans and copper strips. This exhibition will be interpreted in English and in Arabic.
