ActiveWestminster – Westbourne Green Open Space Consultation

Westminster City Council believes that being active and healthy goes hand in hand with an improved quality of life and wellbeing. We aim to improve Westbourne Green Open Space to offer different types of space that are more accessible, provide a richer mix of playing opportunities and improve pollution and noise and overall environmental impact of the area.

The aim of the consultation is to encourage participation amongst residents, communities, groups and users to gather views and insights on how best improve the space and maximise usage of outdoor space. We are focusing the development in three main workstreams:

  • Inclusive Play – A menu of options will be presented to the local community prioritising the most wanted elements of inclusive play.
  • Soft landscaping – Proposals will include recommendations on the use of micro forests, semi mature trees and hedge infill to provide improvements in biodiversity, buffer noise and reduce water run off.
  • Create space for girls and young women – to provide options on how the area can be improved and co-create the space with the feedback of girls and young women involved in the process.

Your views are important to us, so please click through using the link below to complete the survey before the closing date by midnight on the 29th November.

We are also looking for a local group of girls aged 12 – 19 to be involved in a workshop after the New Year, to help co-create an area in the park that will be more attractive for girls to come and use, ensuring that girls can benefit from our local open spaces.

If you know someone who might be interested, please do ask them to fill in the form – as they can leave contact information in their survey response to get involved. Or teachers can contact us directly by replying to this email to put forward a group of students to get involved.
