Disrupt Your Everyday

21st June 2023
Wednesday
All Day

Location
Soho Poly

The Soho Poly is setting a challenge to all businesses, communities, and organisations: give over a bit of your normal working day ( Whatever ‘normal is for you ) to something creative.

It’s all about championing and celebrating the creativity all of us have already! I’ve attached the flyer with more information, but please do get in touch if you’d like to talk further.

It doesn’t matter what you do or how long for – even if it’s one person for one minute in the day! The challenge is to get as many people involved as possible, and make some creative discoveries as part of the everyday. We’ll be sharing everyone’s posts and pictures tagged #DisruptYourEveryday and #thesohopoly across our social media channels all day, creating publicity for every enterprise getting involved as champions of creativity.

SohoPoly At the Soho Poly, we believe that our lives can always be enriched by arts and culture. But too often we don't, or can't, find the time or money to enjoy them. That's why we've launched the Westminster City Council-supported Disrupt Your Everyday festival, bringing poetry, music, art and performance right into the heart of the ordinary working day. DISRUPT YOUR EVERYDAY LOCAL BUSINESS CHALLENGE, 21 JUNE 2023 We've chosen 21 June - the longest day of the year - and the challenge is simple: give over a bit of your normal working day (whatever 'normal' is for you) to something creative. • Is a member of your workforce a secret artist? Could you hang their pictures in your office? • Do you have a brilliant musician on site? Would they give a pop-up performance? • Maybe it's as simple as sending round a poem of the day. • Or a zine workshop, a bit of stand-up, badge making, a book group, flower arranging... It doesn't matter what you do, or how long for — the challenge is to see how many businesses across the borough (and beyond) take part, and what creative discoveries they make along the way. We'll be sharing posts and pictures across social media all day at #DisruptYourEveryday and #thesohopoly and getting as much publicity as possible for your business and your creative disruptions. Register your support If you'd like to be involved, register here: forms.office.com/e/My5p4Bgbg0 We'll be sending regular updates and tips and sharing names of participating businesses in the lead up to the day itself. Perhaps you'd even like to be one of our Disrupt Your Everyday ambassadors, helping us to get the word out to as many people as possible. If so, let us know on the form or at: sohopoly@westminster.ac.uk A bit more background The Soho Poly has a history of creative disruption. As a famous alternative theatre in the 1970s and 1980s it pioneered lunchtime theatre, bringing plays into the heart of the working day. Now we want to reinvent the idea for today's communities. Research shows that creativity is crucial for our wellbeing —with your help we want to make it part of all our everyday lives. Our backers This festival is supported by Westminster City Council and the Quintin Hogg Trust. Funding for the wider Soho Poly restoration project has come from The University of Westminster, Shaftesbury Estates, Derwent London, The John Coates Charitable Trust, Garfield Weston and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
